Corey's Election 2012 Predictions

Tomorrow is election day

Missouri Constitutional Amendment #3:

What is it?
This will change the way Missouri Supreme Court Justices are nominated, if approved.
Instead of the nonpartisan (Missouri Plan) way we nominate justices now, a vote for this amendment will give increasing control to the governor.

Will it pass?
Probably, but it shouldn't.

Missouri Proposition A (Local Control):

What is it?
This would give the City of St Louis control over it's own police force

Will it pass?
Most likely, although this should never even be on the ballot had the legislature gotten their act together and passed it during session.

Missouri Proposition B (Cigarette Tax):

What is it?
an increase to Missouri's lowest-in-the-nation cigarette tax

Will it pass?
Probably not, Missourians love their cigarettes and generally hate taxes.

Should it pass?

Missouri Proposition E (Obamacare):

What is it?
A way for Missourians to vote to stick it to Obama and declare they don't want Obamacare

Will it pass?
Of Course

Does it really matter?
Probably not.

National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest 2012

There are some pretty cool photos in this year's National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest
some of my favorites...

Fly by: This photo was taken on the ice near Arctic Bay last month. As far as we know, it is the highest latitude passenger flight on a hot air balloon ever. It was quite the sight to see a hot air balloon fly between the iceberg columns -- it is one iceberg but looks like two.(© Michelle Valberg/National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest)

Silky Floor: After a dive in the Bahamas, a group of curious silky sharks come to investigate our boat.(© Jorge Cervera Hauser/National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest)

Stacked Supercell with Lightning: This huge mesocyclone supercell was near the Nebraska / Kansas border on the night of June 22nd, 2012. What a stunning structure! (© Jennifer Brindley/National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest) #

Music I Can't Stop Listening To...

I don't normally listen to entire albums but here are a few recent albums that caught my ear and I cant stop listening to them.

How to make a killer screen print, Dexter style.

This is cool
In another life I want to be a screen-printer
Also, if you don't know who Ty Mattson is you should check his work out HERE

Kulula Airlines

Kulula Airlines. Coolest airline.....ever.
I want to fly to South Africa now.

Some of their in-flight announcements...

  • "Please pay attention to the safety announcement, because you will be writing a test shortly"
  • "If you are caught smoking, you will be asked to leave the aircraft"
  • "Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached cruising altitude and will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance the appearance of your flight attendants."
  • "To operate your seat belt, insert the metal tab into the buckle, and pull the belt tight. It works just like every other seat belt; and, if you don't know how to operate one by now, then you probably shouldn't be allowed out in public unsupervised."
  • "Your seat cushions can be used for flotation; and in the event of an emergency water landing, please paddle to shore and take them with our compliments."
  • "We'd like to thank you folks for flying with us today. And, the next time you get the insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal tube, we hope you'll think of Kulula Airways."

Let it Snow...seriously, it's time for snow

A man walks through a park in Burgos as snow hits northern Spain, on February 5, 2012. The Arctic cold snap that has hit Europe for over a week had claimed nearly 300 lives today, brought air travel chaos to London and dumped snow as far south as Rome and even North Africa. Christmas in El Paso, TX!

I'm bringing back the ol' blog! (for you, Aunt Lezlie!)

For Christmas this year we decided to all trek down to El Paso, TX and hang out with the family.
It was my sister's idea since Hannah (my niece) was about to turn 1.
She wanted to have all of the family together for Christmas.
And for the most part, we were. (Miss you Vermont family!)
It was a blast to be back in El Paso with all of the family.

So enjoy the photos of my trip to El Paso

It's a long drive to El Paso.
We actually made it in 17 and 1/2 hours. We drove all night.
and by "we" I mean Kelsey and I

I had to drive through the snowy part of the trip
But it was worth it when we arrived
and there was plenty of snow at Tia's house

When in Texas, you must eat at Whataburger!
There's a long list of places we have to eat at in El Paso
But this is on my list.

This is Cameron (and Uncle Frank's dog)
he's the best
And this is my cousin Cameron
He's a police office
And he let me ride around with him on Christmas night
We pulled over Jesus for speeding and gave him a ticket
I'm sure we are going to hell now
but it was fun nonetheless

Marbles, our throwback family game

Learned a new game, Consecutive Rummy
We could never remember the phases
So I took a photo to help me remember

Any time Hannah ate, Bentley was right there
I think he enjoyed having Hannah around
He ate all the scraps Hannah dropped/threw

We all had fun with the new iPhone App "Action Movie FX"
and by "we" I mean the kids, my mother didn't seem too happy with
all of us blowing up our cousins, or her

My grandmother took us downtown to the Plaza to see the alligator statues
There used to be live alligators there
Thank goodness they aren't there now!

My cousin Madison is the bestest driver!

Uncle Bruce and Aunt Linda's surprise wedding!
We all show up for dinner at their house and
then BAM, wedding time!

Just one of the 3 billion family photos we took that evening

Celebrating Hannah's 1st birthday!
You should see the cupcake pictures, Hannah loved it.

Bought myself a Christmas present!
It's good to have Uncles in the car business
