Manhattanhenge

The setting sun shined down 42nd Street near New York’s landmark Chrysler Building in Manhattan Sunday. “Manhattanhenge,” named by astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, occurs when the setting sun aligns itself with the east-west grid of streets in Manhattan, allowing the sun to shine down all streets at the same time. my new iMac

I finally got a new computer, an iMac
I really needed one too
I still have my old eMac from college, but there is absolutely no memory left on it whatsoever
then I got an old Dell Laptop from a campaign I worked on
but it's a Dell
so I decided it was time to buy a new desktop
plus, I could get a free iPod Touch and printer if I bought a new iMac

FedEx finally arrives!

the box is so big!

finally got it all up on my desk

and here is a video of what my iMac did when I turned it on

Beauty and the Beak

Three years after her beak was shot off by a poacher, Beauty the bald eagle reclaimed her former glory when she was fitted with a prosthetic beak on May 19, 2008 (pictured).

Rescuers had initially had little hope for the emaciated bird, found wandering an Alaska landfill in 2005, because her beak did not grow back and she had to be force-fed.

But workers at Birds of Prey Northwest near Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, who took in Beauty in 2007, worked with local engineers to design a lifelike, titanium beak that allows the eagle to drink and grasp food.

Today the revived Beauty is "an example of the cruelty and compassion of mankind," the rescue center writes on its Web site.
